Definition:
- Area with imaging features that differ from those of adjacent liver parenchyma
Comments:
- The term observation is preferred over the term lesion, since some observations (e.g. perfusion alterations, artifacts) may represent pseudo-lesions rather than true lesions.
- Observations that are easily recognized as definite benign entities or probable benign entities, that cause no diagnostic confusion, and that are considered to have little or no clinical relevance do not necessarily need reporting. Radiologists may choose at their discretion to assign a LI-RADS category to such observations.
- Observations that meet LR-3, LR-4, LR-5 , LR-5V, or LR-M criteria should be reported.
